Legislation - Christine

• The legislation officially passed!!!!  Thank you Christine and Pat and the rest of the gang!
• Coaches will be exempt from the therapy regulation in Colorado
• The group is going to have a small party in Bailey, contact Christine if you're interested

ICF - Christine

• John will be following up with the ICF about their need for a new contact, and membership list

NCCA Flyer - Bobbie

• Bobbie updated the flyer (on website) and is asking for inputs and comments

Membership - Bobbie

• Carl and Mandy need to resolve the difference in the membership lists
• Christine/ It bothers me that people can be a "member" but not contribute
• Sue/ no other groups seem to have membership requirements
• Bobbie/ As long as people pay their dues, why not?
• Joan/ I tend to resist an attendance requirements, there's a place for people who are more peripheral too
• Mandy/ But at some point you don't have enough people participating--? 
• Jeff/ Perhaps the energy should be put into attracting people, rather than tracking attendance.  How do you refuse someone for not attending?
• Maggie/ It seems that the people who show up are the right ones, the ones who have the energy to contribute
• Christine/ But involvement could be in many ways.  I'm not sure it's right to just let people use the logo if they pay their money
• Joan/ What if we had a higher rate for inactive members?
• Christine/ There's no requirements for being a coach, anybody can declare themselves a coach.  There was a discussion about this in the legislation group but it didn't really go anywhere.  The legislation says something like "this regulation doesn't apply to someone who has coach-specific training and does coaching full time."
• Bobbie/ There could be a difference for "vendor membership" vs. "regular membership" or something like that.  We could copy that legislative language for our use?
• Christine/ You don't have to be a coach to be a member of the ICF
• Jeff/ We could have language which talks about the desire to have everyone involved
• Maggie/ I get support from this group by us getting together, not by the NCCA website
• Sue/ We decided to have the next 3 months at the same time and place, but there's some discussion that will need to happen at the planning meeting about meeting over the phone, changing days or times or whatever
• Bobbie/ I'll pull together all this information and make a proposal at the next planning meeting.  Please send inputs to Bobbie at psicoaching@msn.com
• John/ What would be different if we were a larger group, like 40 people?
• Bobbie/ We got some feedback from people about what they're trying to get from this group and what they'd like to see as activities or whatever.
• Christine/ At the ICF conference last fall there was a discussion at the leaders' meeting, someone talked about how the people with successful businesses generally don't participate in chapters, the real work is done by everyone else.

Focus on a coach: Maggie

• I just made up some new business cards for my business
• I was a teacher, taught at the elementary level, then became a trainer of teachers, then the director of development for Poudre School District
• I've been getting training on designing training for teachers
• I became frustrated about 10 years ago with people who knew what to fix but wouldn't do it, so I left to start my own consulting business
• I learned about building consensus in large groups
• I've done some work with diverse groups on land use, we came up with some common agreements
• I'd be happy to do a session sometime for NCCA on consensus building
• I took some time off, and eventually some of my business came back
• I found a wonderful job with New Belgium, more than the OD person than they were originally looking for
• I decided I love doing OD and training all the time, so I left to pursue that more
• The Work of Byron Katie is an important part of what I do – I'd love to do a presentation on that again
• I got connected with Martha and Pat, and ended up signing up for one of his classes
• I've found that telephone coaching is actually a great fit for me, even though I never thought that distance relationships could work that well
• I have 3 clients (plus my other consulting business) and I'm working on how to package all of this together as one thing
• I've found some interesting combinations of organization coaching and leadership coaching
• I've got a possible contract with a government agency which is very exciting
• Ideas regarding charging for this, getting fair money for the value
  • Separate coaching price from consulting price
  • What would you get out of it if you even just totally gave it away?
  • You can keep copyright ownership
  • It's important to identify the value of the coaching sessions, so that people take it seriously
  • Make some pay contingent upon measurable results?
  • Government agencies have a different way of making financial decisions
• I'm in the middle of delivering a Byron Katie teleclass, there's 5 people in this one
  • The Work is incredibly simple, yet complex
  • All 5 people are ones I've interaction with, I just sent out flyers, mostly word of mouth marketing
  • Joan/ I would be more drawn to the flyer if it had pictures or diagrams of some sort
  • It had to be people who are already familiar with The Work
  • I got references for a bridge line through Pat, I got it through a guy that works with the ICF

    The person I went through is Ed Shea at coachimago@aol.com 630-530-1060. He much prefers phone to email. He is a coach who likes to help other coaches set up bridge lines and audio podiums. He can set up a bridge line cheaper because of how he does it.
    I paid $120 for 12 hours of bridge-line so I guess that is $10 an hour. He takes care of everything and then sends you the phone information. I paid him via credit card.
    
    One can also get 2 hours of bridgeline use free as a member of ICF.

  • He can also do Audio Podiums – a way for people to hear recordings after the class
  • I use The Work to varying degrees with each of my clients – depending on what appeals to them and how much value they get
  • On the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of every month I do sessions on The Work – Unity Church, 7:00-9:00pm, Vine Drive in between Shields and Taft – it's sort of a group session, people share and learn from each other
