committee
- Only opposition is from Colorado Mental Health Coalition – we
entered their process late
- The psychotherapy regulation law sunsets every 10 years
- DORA is not interested in new regulation or creating a coaching
board
- It passed unanimously out of committee
- Steve Johnson doesn’t want to take amendments while it’s going
through 3 committees
- Details on
www.coloradocoaches.com
- The whole effort is for coaching to become self-regulated
- ICF has a standard approved client agreement
- The calls to the legislators were very helpful – thank you!!
- There will be a lot of information coming out of the ICF at the
international level, focusing on training and credentials
Ideas for activities for future meetings
- Anne – promoting my new business, help with networking, share what
I’m doing and get visibility for it, learn more depth about what each person is
doing
- Irene – sharing helps me to work things out
- Pat – From Rotary: servant leadership model, find a way to give
back to the community, especially for expert coaches
- Pat – BCA and DCF might be better at building their base by having
meetings at night
- John – BCA tends to be more formal and business oriented, I like
to have the more informal nature of the NCCA, it’s more nurturing
- Barbara – I’ve always been pretty solo, but I want mentors,
feedback, hear about experiences (what works and what doesn’t), support each
other
- Sue – Find out more about how people have succeeded, get new ideas
- Mandy – Getting basic contacts (Know a good accountant? How do
you pick a business name?)
- Anne – could we seriously look at shifting the time?
- Sue – How about a general survey of what would draw people to
meetings?
- Irene – How about just trying an occasional evening meeting?
- Anne – We could do a potluck dinner and let people showcase things
that they’re up to
- Irene – We did have a couple of evening things – the holiday
meeting, the Spring event
- Lynne – At the Christmas party this year it seems that people just
wanted to hang out
- John – At NoCoNet, it seems people don’t come because of the
speakers, but because of the participatory/learning activities. End up doing
both to keep the variety.
- Sue – I come because of the nurturing, for professional
associations I go because of the particular topics
- John – There was a lot of focus towards getting ready for the ICF
conference, maybe we’re feeling the normal letdown after that
- Barbara – I’d like to see coaching in action, make it experiential
(more than just listen to a presentation)
- Anne – I’m struggling to keep my energy, it would really help to
receive everyone’s feedback and ideas
- Sue – The League has been very valuable
Concrete topic proposals
Topic 1
- Carl - Spend some considerable time on digging into a few peoples’
approaches, programs, practice
- Anne -
I’d love to do this, and to get some feedback/coaching/ideas on what I’m doing
- Pat – I
would love to talk about my business but have to work around my schedule
- Barbara – Could we take an organized inventory of what each person
in the group is up to – have some pre-defined questions which help us understand
each person’s approach and business – I could share the list of questions
- Lynne – People sharing what they’re up to, others giving feedback
and asking questions
Topic 2
- Irene – A nurturing/networking day
- Pat – To interact with real live people. Where are you stuck?
Celebrating?
- Lynne – To build my motivation
Topic 3
- Irene – A business building workshop. Share, work with each
other. Actually DO something for a business topic.
- Pat – "Open Space Technology" – use the expertise of the group,
create and capture knowledge
- Anne/Sue – Have experience with the Council model
- Barbara – Topic: building my website
- Sue – Topic: Developing a workshop
Topic 4
- Anne – Combine 1 with 3 – Have someone talk about their needs, and
then spend time after that workshopping some concrete issues
Radio call-in coaching show – Anne, John, Lynne
- KRFC want to make a decision in the next week or two
- The station manager is familiar with coaching
- A group of 6 NCCA coaches is working on this opportunity
- The plan for doing this demo is to do it on a bridge line
instead. Anne will schedule a time and bridge line for any NCCA people to call
in, and will give it to Carl to send out the announcement to everyone
- The result of this will be to extract a 15 minute demo of what the
coaching show would sound like
- We’d like to do this in the next 2-3 weeks
- The plan is to team coach, and to have a person who is managing
the phones and screening calls
- How could we use the NCCA website to build a longer term
relationship with people who call in?
- The website could have more lists of resources
- Coaches could continue to talk to people off-air
- Nancy Lee is a great model, so good at respecting and helping
people
- How can the radio show tap into the resources of the broader
group?
- We could have guest coaches and a specific topic of the day
Next meeting February
- Anne will facilitate
- Anne, Lynne, Barbara would like to share about their business
