Announcements

• MaryKay took her test and is awaiting CTI certification
• Irene is making great progress on the research symposium!
• Carl’s book is now out for second review and he’s looking for an editor
• Irene didn’t sign us up for the Holistic Arts Fair – contact her if you want information

Treasurer’s Report – Martha

• We have about $1200 in the bank

Nominating Committee Report – Irene

• Irene’s been talking to a lot of people to judge interest in the various leadership roles
• Martha and Carl have agreed to stay on
• Bobbie is interested in Membership Liaison
• Anne offered to help out with Publicity
• Irene’s trying to put together a “big Kahuna” team for the president/VP roles
• Irene would like someone to take on a publicity leader role – Carmen would be willing to help with this but we would like to have a leader.  There’s a lot of room for creativity and broad involvement

Membership Proposal – Martha

• Martha passed out an initial proposal at the last meeting
• The leadership team talked about this in depth 2 weeks ago

Why re-consider membership?

• Active coaches not ICF members
• By-laws being ignored

Current membership criteria

• Practice coaching or be in a coach training program
• ICF member in good standing
• Guests can attend up to 6 meetings

Notes

• “Non-compliance” is an integrity issue
• We could establish different levels of membership
• Denver and Boulder chapters each have multiple levels, but require that officers be ICF members
• “Leadership” could be broader than “elected officers” (we are already doing this with the Membership Liaison and other more informal leadership roles)
• What is the resistance to ICF membership?  Is it inconsistent with our goal to promote the profession of coaching in NCCA?
• This question needs to be answered by each individual
• About 85% of our group are ICF members
• Other professional organizations have local dues include membership in national organization.
• The reason we’re looking at this now is because of needing to choose leaders again, it opened up the discussion.  We started looking at this in December because there was increasing discussion at that time about Coachville and whether the existence of that organization should cause us to change our membership criteria.
• Maybe this means we’re not active enough in engaging ICF members to become officers?
• NCCA could incent officers by helping them out with the cost of ICF membership?
• Some groups charge a “guest fee” to attend the meetings after a point?

Trial close

• Option 1, but instead of “enforce”, we say “clearly communicate”, and it’s up to the integrity of the individual
• We only accept the activity fee for ICF members
• No change to by-laws
• No change to $25 NCCA yearly fee
• This information will now be used by Martha to create the final proposal.
