Feedback/Ideas on Taste of Coaching
It was nice to have the cameraderie with people who were common thinkers/feelers
It was nice to be playful
Ann followed through on the coaching demo with Pat - contacted people, did more thinking
around her current practice and opportunities - "becoming closer and more real"
A person in the audience thought that the demo was set up - perhaps we need to make sure
that people know that it can be powerful and simple
The visioning exercise was great!
The room was a bit dark, too much of a college hangout - could use something bigger and
better lit
We should do handwritten invitations to specific people, need to be more personal
Last year the video on Channel 27 was useful
It was good to have handouts that had value and substance
We had a clear message but for some reason we weren't able to get it on the public
wavelengths
It would be good to raise the visibility of coaching DURING the year, become more
visible not just once a year
Some chapters have publicity chairs
We should have a yearlong publicity strategy
The event was well organized
Should we do some kind of announcement once a month? Create a PR circle with 12 people?
The press release may not have caught the "taste of coaching" part or
connection to NCCA
The visioning exercise was powerful
People will be reached best if each of us makes a personal effort to enlist people
one-on-one
It was kind of like a "recital" - we learned from and saw each other
Some other networks make the papers on a regular basis, maybe we should learn from what
they do
Maybe there's an opportunity with the new radio station KFRC?
Parking was a problem
Should we do this event again? Perhaps as part of our "PR Circle"
Would there be opportunities to team up with other organizations in town?
Carmen is working on a presentation with the Fort Collins Womens' Network
The Lions club needs lots of speakers, they meet every week
Gloria has formed a local group connected with speakingcircles.com - about speaking from
the heart and being vulnerable - it also helps with skills for public speaking
Elections Committee - Irene
Our officers serve from May through April, we're getting close to changing over
We could add a PR circle leader if people are interested
We need to have a nominating circle and a leader to make this happen
It has been our tradition to encourage people to share positions
ICF Conference - Irene
If we can get 10 people to sign up by the end of tomorrow, we could be entered in a
drawing for a free set of tapes.
Carl will send out an e-mail message asking people to sign up and tell Irene
Almost all the meals are included in the $499 price
Value people got from conferences in the past: Get tools, contact peers, share ideas,
steer the coaching profession
Membership Circle - Martha
This circle has been looking at the bylaws to see if they need to be changed
Currently you have to be a member of the ICF if you want to be a member of the NCCA
This exclusivity isn't viable anymore, and other chapters haven't been affected by
relaxing the requirement
Martha handed out a proposal and would
appreciate comments and feedback on it
Eligible voters are current NCCA members
We will have time to have a discussion about this at the next meeting
Treasurer's Report - Martha
We have about $1200 in the bank
Announcements
This coming Monday 11am MST, Diane and Pat will be on a call talking about research into
coaching. The call is hosted by Shirley Anderson's coachingsalon.com. Open to anybody at
646 519 5860 #2564
Pat showed a magazine "Absolute Advantage: The Workplace Wellness Magazine"
which has lots of articles about coaching.
Irene is on the ICF R&D committee and is organizing the first Coaching Research
Symposium at the Denver conference this year. This should really help shape the field of
coaching. The field is very active, people all over the world are doing various research
projects. Contact her if you are interested.
