This is a very exciting time! Not only did it rain this weekend, but it's also time for new officers for NCCA! During our Planning Circle meeting last week, the current officers went through roles & responsibilities for each position. This is the first time we have ever gone through such an exercise and it became quite apparent how we have each stepped up to the plate and taken on numerous responsibilities to promote the growth of our wonderful organization. As the incoming President, Irene has committed to sharing with you a newsletter twice a month, one of which will include the minutes from each meeting. As we and ICF grow there is so much to share with you - this will be a great venue to do just that. I'm also excited because I handed over the database to our new Secretary, Carl! As of June all NCCA communications will come from him. I look forward to seeing you all next week at our monthly meeting. You won't want to miss this one - we have some special things in store (including a chocolate treat - just in case you needed an incentive!).
All my best,
Lucinda

I'll be sending newsletters out about twice a month. If you have anything you want to send out, send it to me by the 2nd Thursday or the fourth Thursday of the month: irenestein@att.net . We'll also try to post this stuff on our website: nccoaches.org
We're organizing a group to go to Denver on May 23 to see Laura Berman Fortgang (see ad below). If you want me to order you a ticket at the reduced group rate ($45) let me know by Sunday, May 12: irenestein@att.net . Christine has volunteered to drive a whole crew of us down. Let me know if you want to participate (you don't have to be an ICF member).
EVENT: During times like these we could all use a coach. Coaching provides valuable tools for executives, entrepreneurs and everyday people who are grappling with the uncertainties of the economic climate. Living in today's world is causing many of us to seek new answers to age-old questions: "Where am I really going in life--and how can I get there faster?" The International Coach Federation (ICF) is bringing its national, nine-city program to Denver to help people look at their skills and opportunities anew through a special coaching experience.
WHEN & WHERE: May 23, 2002 6:00-10:00pm Westin Westminster-Denver, CO.
HEADLINER: Laura Berman Fortgang, author of "Living Your Best Life" and renowned master coach who has appeared on Oprah, The Today Show, in USA Today and other top national media.
FORMAT: After a one-hour, coaches-only session, Laura will lead a three-hour journey of discovery and insight in which participants can begin to review and redesign their lives by re-evaluating, re-prioritizing, re-inventing and re-energizing.

"Pass the torch, Keep the flame burning" is the theme of the business portion of our next meeting (May 23, 12-2 at Lonestar restaurant in Ft. Collins) as Lucinda passes the torch on to the new leadership circle members (can't you just see her as an Olympic distance runner?). If you've read this far, you can tell how many great coaches are involved in contributing to the success of NCCA. Come join the celebration as we give our thanks to the 2001-2 leadership circle and welcome in the 2002-3 officers. And a big thanks to everyone who has participated in NCCA this past year to make it so much fun and successful. (Old officers: Lucinda, pres.; Irene, VP, Martha Conant, treas.; Terry Anna, sec.-- New officers: Irene, pres., Mary Kay Johnston, VP; Martha, treas., Carl Dierschow, sec., Karen Hilgefort and Pat Williams, co- membership liaisons) For the activities half of the meeting, Susan Hart of TECHNOLOGEEZ will be doing a technology makeover for one of our members (don't tell anyone it's Terry Fenn). Learn what you can do to increase your productivity using current technology.
"Reach Out-Summer of Connection," our summer activity schedule is attached to this email. In addition to our regular membership meetings (fourth Thursday) and planning meetings (second Thursday), we have activities throughout the summer at different times and on different days. If you can't attend the regular membership meetings, maybe you can participate in some of our other summer offerings. See below for more details on some of our special events:
"Summer of Connection Kickoff Picnic" will take place at City Park in Ft. Collins on Tuesday, June 4 from 5 to 8 pm. Everyone is invited along with family and friends. We've reserved pavilion number 7 on the west side of the park between the train station and the golf course. Plenty of room to play and we can ride the train, too (though I can't fit in the caboose anymore). Pat Williams will co-ordinate the food and activities (I think-he's especially fond of kickball, I hear). If you want to help, contact him at doccoach@aol.com .
NCCA is participating in the Holistic Arts Fair again this year (3rd time in a row). Coaches are encouraged to come and share booth time as well as peruse the show. Come see our new NCCA banner, practice answering the question, "What is this thing called coaching?" and do some on-the-spot coaching to an appreciative and amazed audience. Karen Hilgefort khilgefort@mail.com and Lucinda Kerschensteiner info@LucindaK.com are co-facilitating. Contact one of them to sign up for booth time. If you just want to send some coaching brochures or business cards, drop materials with one of the facilitators.
"Summer Coaching League" will make its debut this summer. Watch for details coming in a later newsletter. In brief, we will be running a "coaching league" where participant coaches are "matched" with another participant coach each week to either do some reciprocal coaching, or to discuss each other's coaching philosophies. This is a REAL league with a commissioner, a schedule, and an awards ceremony at the end. Don't miss out! (NCCA/ICF members only)
"Small Group Discussions" will take place throughout the summer. If you want to host a group, contact Mary Kay Johnston mksjohnston@yahoo.com with your topic, place and time and we'll do the advertising. This is the opportunity to host a Mastermind(c) meeting, a Coachville study group, or just discuss some small topic of interest such as "How can coaches change the world?". Keep watching for notices to appear in the newsletter.
Communication: Carl is doing a great job at keeping the website updated with all our new activity. Be sure to visit it if you are looking for up-to-date information. If you want to add or change something email him at carl_dierschow@hp.com . Website guidelines can be found (where else?) on the website at nccoaches.org . We will be passing out an updated roster to all of our members and friends very shortly. This roster is only for communication and connection purposes and should not be used for solicitation or promotion. We will continue to list member information on the website and for an extra fee, you can have an extended biography on the NCCA website (this is especially helpful if you haven't gotten your own site up yet).
